UFBU Announces Nationwide Demonstrations on August 12
The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called for nationwide demonstrations on August 12, 2026, demanding the implementation of 5-day banking for bank employees. According to the unions, the demand has remained pending despite earlier discussions with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and recommendations made to the Government. Demonstrations will be held after office hours in state capitals and major cities across the country. UFBU has appealed to all bank employees and union members to participate in large numbers. The unions also indicated that if there is no positive response from the Government, they may announce further protest programmes, including a nationwide strike.
